SANSOR: Seed Certification Internship 2025

The South African National Seed Organization (SANSOR) invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for Internship Programme for a period of 12 months.

Recruitment period: Temporary; 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025, to be extended on annual basis for a maximum of two years.

SANSOR is a dynamic organization which represents the seed industry both nationally and internationally. As a Secretariat we protect and further the interests of the seed trade to the benefit of our members. In addition, SANSOR administers the Seed Certification Scheme on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture.

Job Description:

  • Secretarial functions for meetings, including compiling of agendas and taking minutes, follow through on secretariat action points
  • All aspects concerning execution of the South African Seed Certification Scheme – administrative and practical monitoring
  • Technical/administrative functions on specific seed- and industry related subjects
  • Advising members on legislative aspects impacting on the seed trade
  • All other related functions concerning the South African National Seed Organization
  • Support capacity development initiatives, which may include:
    o Facilitating training and student bursaries.
    o Promotion and marketing of the seed industry and associated career opportunities.
  • Various other tasks assigned by the Science and Policy Manager

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a minimum four-year qualification in Agricultural Sciences with a good knowledge of Seed
    Science, Botany, Crop production, Plant Pathology, Entomology, and seed legislation.
  • Ideally have some relevant working experience in agriculture/seed trade matters, excluding study years.
  • Be fluent in English with excellent writing skills.
  • Provide a minimum of three references.
  • Be highly proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Be willing to travel extensively.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Be a natural born South African.
  • Must be Pretoria based

Required skills:

  • Ability to plan, organize and execute work, sound judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure in a fast -paced environment.
  • Be able to work independently and interact professionally when addressing clients.
  • Meticulous work habits, attention to detail, excellent reading comprehension and analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain an effective record keeping and database systems.
  • Ability to perform generic administrative tasks, such as minutes etc.
  • Personality: Driven, motivated, team player, ability to work under pressure, good problem-solving
    skills. Candidates who are innovative and passionate about South African agriculture would have an
    added advantage.
