DTIC Internship Programme 2026–2028

The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) invites applications from unemployed South African graduates for its Internship Programme 2026–2028, offering structured workplace exposure over a 24-month period from 01 July 2026 to 30 June 2028.

The programme is designed to equip graduates with practical skills, professional knowledge, and workplace experience aligned with government priorities supporting industrial development, inclusive economic growth, and employment creation in South Africa.

Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend based on their highest qualification at the time of appointment.

Internship Programme Overview

The internship programme provides graduates with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience within a national government department responsible for trade policy, industrial development, economic transformation, and competitiveness.

Participants will develop technical and administrative competencies while contributing to projects that support economic growth and sector development initiatives across South Africa.

The programme targets graduates who are interested in building careers within the public service environment and who demonstrate commitment to professional excellence and national development priorities.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Applications are invited from candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be unemployed at the time of application
  • Must hold a tertiary qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher
  • Qualification must fall within one of the listed fields of study below
