Necsa Group: Internship Programme

The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) group invites unemployed youth to apply for an Internship Programme for a period of 12 months.

Position: Internship Programme

Duration: 12 Months

Closing Date: 04 October 2024

Necsa Group, through Human Capital Development (HCD), is contributing toward skills development by offering a twelve (12) months funded Internship Program.

Requirements:

  • Unemployed South African citizens graduates between the age of 18 and 35
  • In possession of relevant tertiary qualification in the field specified below.

POST: Mechanical Engineering Internship
NO OF INTERN: 1
DEPARTMENT: Facilities Management
QUALIFICATION: National Diploma Mechanical Engineering
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
• Conduct technical investigation relating to the allocated plant.
• Conduct feasibility studies for plant expansion as and when required.
• Analysis of the job cards to eliminate the high failure rate on components and machinery when applicable.
• Monitor the plant performance with the view to improving efficiency.
• Monitoring the energy usage of various equipment and machinery.
• Investigate the viability of energy-efficient sources.
• Ensure that all procedures and work instructions are updated to as-built or as-is after every change to the plant.
• Plant and process monitoring.
• Review the scope of works for any plant shutdown.
• Conduct inspections on critical equipment during the shutdowns.
• Write a technical report for the shutdown.
• Coordinate meetings between maintenance and production.
• Draw-up specifications for all the spares required.
• Assist maintenance section with URS compilations.
• Assist in the implementation of Energy Management Policy.
• Propose innovative ways of optimising operations in the allocated plant
• The intern must have a driver’s license and be Computer literate.

POST: Electrical Engineering Internship

QUALIFICATION:
National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

• Electrical testing, maintenance, and installation of equipment and distribution networks, as well as providing support services to the Necsa Group.
• To be able to assist with water and electricity readings on a monthly basis.
• Assist in the implementation of Energy management system policy for the Necsa Group.
• Develop a database for all electrical equipment and quantities as well as their electricity usage to identify saving opportunities.
• Assist in Energy Performance certification preparedness for buildings.
• The intern must have a driver’s license and be Computer literate.

POST: Chemical/Process Engineering
NUMBER OF INTERN: 1
DEPARTMENT: Utilities and Facilities Management
QUALIFICATION: National Diploma in Chemical Engineering
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
• Provide operational and technical support to maintenance and production in the operation of the plant using sound engineering methods and techniques.
• Adherence to the relevant Quality Standards, SHEQ-INS, Regulatory, and Statutory requirements as prescribed
• Development and updating of operational procedures and work instructions.
• Assist in the delivery of bulk liquid nitrogen to facilities.
• Assist in the monthly invoicing of utilities for recoveries.
• Support in the operation of the compressor and demin plant.
• Assist in attending to interruption of utilities.
• The intern must have a driver’s license, and be Computer literate.

POST: Analytical Chemistry
NUMBER OF INTERN: 2
DEPARTMENT: CBF (Chemical, Biological and Forensic Laboratories)
QUALIFICATION: S4 in Analytical Chemistry
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
• Analytical Chemistry from the University of Technology who have completed their S4 and need to complete their practical training (Practical 1 and Practical 2) before they can graduate.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written communication).
• High level of computer literacy (Ms Package).
• Attention to detail, self – motivation and good time management.
• Ability to perform instrumental analysis on routine and non routine samples accurately and on time.
• Ability to perform trouble shooting minor problems on facilities/instruments.

POST: Supply Chain Management Internship
NUMBER OF INTERN: 2
DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain Management
QUALIFICATION: 3-year National Diploma in Supply Chain Management/ Procurement Management/ Logistics Management/ Inventory Management
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
• Asses compliance of RFQs in line with SCM Policies and Procedures
• Issuing and receiving of goods
• Registration of suppliers onto NECSA database
• Generating orders
• Updating supplier information
• Tender administration
• Inventory control
• Compile and send out request for quotation

POST: HCD Intern
NUMBER OF INTERN: 1
DEPARTMENT: Human Capital Development (HCD)
QUALIFICATION: ETD Diploma / Degree or equivalent in HRD
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
• To render Education and Training support to HCD Department and NLA
• Assisting in the Coordination of Necsa internship programme and learnership program.
• Assist in training coordination and rendering administration services in line with Necsa internal prescripts & SETA requirements
• Assist in the coordination and Administration of the bursaries and scholarship program
• Compile the Necsa internal agreement contract for the learners
• Drafting of appointment letters and regret letters
• Arrange for security clearance and submit to relevant offices and receive results and keep records in a proper filing system.
• Obtain main job specification & arrange for medical examination for successful candidates
• Arrange medical exit for learners upon completion of the contracts.
