An internship programme is an intervention by the City of Johannesburg to address the growing demand by a tertiary institution for students to undergo on-the-job exposure, as a pre-requisite to acquire an academic qualification or as a requirement after the acquisition of academic qualification to obtain experiential training. The City is committed to providing work-based training for students.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide support and assist the Assistant Director of Media, Public Relations and Channel Marketing to ensure the provision of extensive media communications and liaison and monitoring services to the Group Finance Department to enable it to develop and maintain an open and professional image with the media and customers.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Plan, develop, implement, track and manage;
- Media, public relations and channel marketing campaigns across all the media channels;
- Create and maintain a favourable brand image of Group Finance and the City’s services
and its products; - Manage the Department’s and Joburg brand and raise awareness of the city’s priorities,

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To manage the implementation of Group Finance’s Communications and Marketing Strategy, objectives and activities. As part of the strategic communications team, this post plays a key role in managing the overall graphic design unit by ensuring a creation of the unit original graphic designs, comprehensive layout concepts, and overseeing the coordination of production materials.
This includes overseeing all design projects, from conception to delivery, designing original pieces, including illustrations and infographics, reviewing all design work to ensure high quality.
The specialist provides graphic design solutions across a variety of publications and promotional materials with a particular focus on print and digital graphic designs for interactive and multimedia formats or to produce and oversee digital and print creative solutions to address the communication and marketing needs of the department.
The incumbent would be required to liaise with all stakeholders within the Group Finance Department i.e. Management Support, Revenue Shared Services Centre, Group Treasury, Group Accounting, Core Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Group Property Unit, Group Chief Financial Officer and the office of the MMC Finance to assist in the achievement of each Unit’s goals.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Develops, conceptualises, plans, designs, and produces a wide range of specialized graphic and/or illustrative material, to include multimedia concepts, as appropriate for all marketing strategies and campaigns across all units;
- Managing the Group Finance channels (touch points) – emails, websites and raising awareness of the City’s priorities, programmes and projects;
- Build relationships and respond to the questions / queries of Group Finance Units in a timely, accurate and honest manner;
- Review and monitor the effectiveness of the City’s, Group Finance, Municipal Entities graphic design activities and assessing them against goals (e.g., ROI and KPIs);
- Do research of emerging technologies and trends and providing thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate;
- Manages the outcomes associated with the utilisation, productivity and performance of staff in the graphic design sub-unit.
