Unilever invites unemployed individuals to apply for the Supply Chain Unemployed Learnership Programme based at the Indonsa Factory in Newlands, South Africa. This 12-month onsite learnership provides practical workplace experience in a factory environment, offering participants the opportunity to develop technical, operational, and workplace skills while working with a globally recognised organisation committed to sustainable and responsible business practices.
The programme is designed to equip learners with hands-on exposure to automated packaging operations, health and safety standards, and quality control processes. Job Purpose
The learnership programme provides training in packaging products using automated packaging equipment while adhering to health, safety, and quality standards. Participants will gain business understanding, develop basic mechanical maintenance skills, and build effective communication skills for production line coordination and operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general production line operations and cleaning activities according to operational plans.
- Conduct pre-start-up checks to ensure equipment readiness, cleanliness, and safety in line with standard operating procedures.
- Monitor product and packaging quality against required standards and report any faults immediately.
- Identify process abnormalities and take corrective action to prevent escalation.
- Clean machinery in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site requirements.
- Prepare, verify, and handle raw materials for production use.
- Maintain personal and team safety on the production line at all times.
- Contribute to an eco-efficient and sustainable working environment.
- Comply with all learnership requirements, including assessments, logbook completion, and assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) with passes in Mathematics and Physical Science, or
- N2, N3, or N4 Engineering qualification.

Relocation
Relocation assistance will not be provided. Candidates must already reside within the area or be willing to relocate at their own cost.
Compensation and Benefits
A monthly stipend will be paid for the duration of the learnership.
