Purpose of the Job

As a Learner Artisan (Millwright), you will undergo structured training to qualify as a Millwright in accordance with the requirements of the relevant SETA (QCTO) and the National Artisan Moderation Board (NAMB).

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate competence in identified areas related to plant, mine, equipment, systems, and discipline
  • Understand and apply plant maintenance documentation systems
  • Use planning and work management systems effectively
  • Apply basic plant/mine-specific process knowledge
  • Comply with Safety Management Systems (IMS, MBO, etc.)
  • Apply emergency procedures and conduct task risk assessments
  • Identify hazards and participate in risk assessments
  • Attend daily morning meetings and toolbox talks
  • Provide regular feedback to supervisors and planning officers on work progress
  • Participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) and improvement initiatives
  • Maintain good housekeeping and follow waste disposal procedures
  • Participate in performance appraisals and personal development planning (PDP)
  • Identify training and development needs
  • Lead by example and support team efforts
  • Assist in developing work instructions to improve staff competency
  • Contribute to maintenance strategy and plant sustainability through My IMS inspections
  • Ensure accurate maintenance history feedback for renewals, upgrades, and critical spares
Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Completed Matric / N3 or equivalent qualification
  • Must have passed Mathematics, Science, and English
