Herties is thrilled to unveil an opportunity for a Quality and Food Safety Intern at our Head Office Production Facility. Below is a detailed overview of the role and its responsibilities.
Time Requirements:
Alternate every 3 weeks between the three:
- Week 1 – Night shift 17:00 – 03:00 (10)
- Week 2 – Day shift 07:00 – 17:00 (10)
- Week 3 – Lab (Day Shift) 07:00 – 17:00 (10)
Job Description:
Day Shift:
- On-line Quality Control. PRP checklists.
- GMP inspections.
- Sampling Raw materials for analysis.
- Approve bottles and caps (labels).
- Chemical verifications.
- CIP cleaning verification.
- Cleaning verification.
- Line startup verification.
- Manage retention sample library.
- Scale, thermometer and measuring equipment verification.
- Sampling of outsourced products and verifying the product at receiving.
- COA management at receiving.
- QC of received products.
- Maintenance job card verification.
- Verify suitable waste management and cleaning and personal hygiene
standards. - Manage pest sighting log and inspection of pest control units.
- Stock management to enforce FIFO principles.
- Verify production sheets with production and report on the floor issues to your
line manager. - Verify the mixing process.
- Verify that the COC’s and barcodes are correctly captured.
- Basic training to employees on policies/preservatives and basic food safety
Night Shift:

Laboratory:
- Make up raw material batches and approve raw materials for mixing.
- Issue recipes to the mixing department.
- Verify production sheets with production and mixing manager.
- Test final mixes and approve for filling.
- Investigate complaints.
- Test CIP water.
- ATP swabbing.
- Sampling for microbiological and chemical verification.
- Testing of outsourced products
Qualification: Btech/BSc Food Science or Food Technology or Consumer Science
