Positions: Data Insights Intern Position

Wild Impact’s purpose and mission are to facilitate the empowerment and development of people living within identified protected areas in Africa by forging unique partnerships between conservation initiatives and local communities.
Wild Impact is committed to sustainable development by focusing on projects within the areas of Education, Healthcare & Clean Water, Environment & Conservation, Small Business Development and Youth Empowerment. Within the Youth Empowerment programme, there will be opportunities for unemployed youth to be offered placements.
The experience opportunity is a joint programme of Wild Impact & and Beyond, Yes4Youth and Nedbank and the communities where Wild Impact operates. The programme aims to empower unemployed youth by offering them a first chance at quality, paid work experience for 12 months.
The work environment is project—and programme-oriented, allowing the individual to develop their professional skills.
Candidates will be assigned a supervisor who will manage them in several key business areas. We seek self-motivated team members who are passionate about environmental issues and community empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and manage data from conservation projects and community initiatives.
- Maintain and organise datasets using database management tools.
- Perform data cleaning, validation, and verification.
- Assist in the analysis of data to identify trends and insights.
- Prepare data visualisations and reports for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Work with various teams to provide data support for decision-making processes.
Requirements:
- Education:
o Matric certificate
o Recently completed a qualification (Honours) in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields.
o Knowledge of data management tools (Excel, SQL, or data visualisation software like Tableau or Power
BI) is advantageous.
- Other Requirements:
o Must be between 18-27 years before 30 August 2024.
o Must be a South African citizen and unemployed as of 29 August 2024.
o Police clearance and COVID-19 vaccination certificate required.
o Not a previous YES4Youth placement.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in data management tools (Excel, SQL, or similar).
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based role in Sandton.
- Contract position with standard working hours.
- Provided resources: Cell phone and Laptop for business-related duties.
