Water Research Commission: Internship and WIL 2026/2027

The Water Research Commission (WRC) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and unemployed South African graduates and TVET learners for its 2026/2027 Internship and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme. The programme offers successful candidates an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience over a 24-month period, helping participants develop professional skills and improve future employment prospects.
This internship programme is designed for graduates who have completed National Diplomas or Degrees, as well as TVET learners who require Work Integrated Learning (WIL) to complete their National Diploma. Applicants who meet the specified requirements are encouraged to apply before the closing date.

This Work Integrated Learning opportunity enables TVET learners to acquire practical communication and stakeholder engagement experience required for completing their studies.
Programme Duration
The Internship and Work Integrated Learning Programme will run for 24 months, allowing successful candidates to obtain meaningful workplace experience while developing professional and technical skills within their chosen field.
Graduate Applicant Requirements
Graduate applicants must possess:
- A National Diploma, Degree or higher qualification.
- Qualification at NQF Level 6 or above.
TVET Applicant Requirements
TVET applicants must possess:
- An N6 Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- An official letter from the TVET College confirming that Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is required to obtain a National Diploma.
General Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- Must be an unemployed South African citizen.
- Preference will be given to applicants between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Must not have previously participated in an internship programme.
- Persons living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Meeting the minimum requirements does not automatically guarantee selection. Applications will be assessed according to the advertised requirements and organisational needs.
Required Documents
Applications must include the following certified supporting documents:
- Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Certified copy of a South African Identity Document (not older than six months).
- Certified copies of qualifications and academic transcripts (not older than six months).
- Proof of residential address.
- Sworn affidavit confirming that the applicant has not previously participated in an internship programme.
- For TVET applicants, a certified copy of the N6 Certificate together with an official letter from the TVET College confirming the Work Integrated Learning requirement.
- The correct reference number must be clearly indicated for the position being applied for.
Incomplete applications or applications submitted without the required supporting documents may not be considered.
