Swellendam Municipality: Internship Programme 2025

Swellendam Municipality invites applications for three vacancies in the Financial Management Internship Programme. This is a two-year fixed-term contract position offering a salary of R96 000 per annum (all-inclusive). The programme provides structured professional training and work experience in key financial services areas, aimed at candidates who recently completed a three-year Baccalaureus degree (NQF 7) or National Diploma (NQF 6) in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Internal Auditing, or Supply Chain Management, and are aged between 21 and 35 years.
The internship is based in Swellendam, Western Cape, with administrative support across Swellendam, Buffeljagsrivier, Suurbraak, and Barrydale. Applications close on Friday, 28 November 2025 at 16:00. Only candidates residing in the Western Cape province will be considered. - Recently obtained an appropriate three-year Baccalaureus degree (NQF level 7) or National Diploma (NQF level 6) in any of the following fields:
→ Accounting
→ Economics
→ Finance
→ Risk Management
→ Internal Auditing
→ Supply Chain Management - Are between the ages of 21 – 35 years old.
The intern will sign a contract of employment as well as an internship agreement. The purpose of the agreement is to ensure commitment to the programme, which includes full participation in educational, workplace assignments and the study of policies and procedures.
Internship Overview
The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP) is a structured professional training and work experience programme aimed at providing high-quality practical exposure in key areas such as Financial Services to ensure that interns acquire the necessary skills.
Application Requirements
Applications must be submitted on the prescribed application form (obtainable from Human Resources or on the municipal website), accompanied by:
- A comprehensive CV
- Certified copies of ALL qualifications mentioned on the CV
- Certified copy of ID document
- At least one reference
- Proof of residence (only candidates residing in the Western Cape province will be considered)
The completion of the application form in your own handwriting is compulsory.
