Role Purpose
The Facilities Internship is designed to provide graduates with practical experience in facilities management within SHRA-managed housing complexes. The successful intern will assist with maintenance planning, health and safety compliance, contractor management, tenant maintenance requests, and building inspections.
The position plays an important role in ensuring that housing facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist in the following areas:
Safety Management
Responsibilities include:
- Implement health, safety and environmental management systems.
- Support contractor safety induction programmes.
- Train employees on safety procedures.
- Prepare monthly safety reports.
- Conduct routine safety inspections.
- Coordinate annual safety audits.
- Maintain and update safety files.
- Liaise with municipalities and local fire departments regarding compliance requirements.
- Assist during emergency situations involving health and safety matters.
Service Level Agreement Compliance
The intern will help monitor contractor performance by:
