The South African Weather Service (SAWS) invites suitably qualified TVET College learners to apply for the eighteen (18) months Work Integrated Learning Programme for 2026. This programme is aimed at providing practical workplace experience to learners who have recently completed their N6 qualification and require structured practical training in order to fulfil the requirements of a National Diploma. The Work Integrated Learning Programme offers selected learners the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience within SAWS operations while receiving a monthly stipend for the duration of the programme. Successful candidates will be placed at the SAWS offices in Centurion and will be expected to arrange their own accommodation and transport. Participation in the programme does not guarantee permanent employment upon completion, as the programme is designed solely to support academic and professional development through practical workplace learning.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have recently completed an N6 in Electrical Engineering.
  • Must not have completed more than one (1) year of relevant practical experience after obtaining the N6 qualification.
  • Must submit the following documents via the SAWS recruitment portal:
    • N3–N6 Certificates of Achievement
    • A letter from the TVET College requesting 18 months of practical experience to complete the National Diploma
    • A comprehensive CV clearly outlining personal details (ID number, residential address, etc.)
  • People Living with Disabilities will be given preference. Applicants must provide a medical confirmation letter from a registered doctor.
Stipend and Conditions:
  • Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R5 500.00.
  • Successful candidates will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport to the SAWS Centurion offices.
  • SAWS is under no obligation to offer permanent employment upon completion of the programme.
