Intern – Forestry Pest and Disease Management
Location: Howick, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa
Sappi offers a one-year internship for a recent graduate in Forestry, Plant Pathology, Botany, Entomology or Microbiology to gain real-world experience in managing plantation health.
Sappi’s interns are supported by competent and committed mentors, in this instance in our Forestry Research unit.
Key responsibilities:
- Participate in plantation health management by doing in-field surveillance.
- Support Forestry research activities.
- Complete a Forestry research project.
The ideal candidate has:
- Bachelors of Science Degree or Advanced Diploma in Forestry, Plant Pathology, Botany, Entomology or Microbiology.
- Good communication skills.
- No prior work experience required.

The main responsibilities of the job:
- Prepare employment documentation for onboarding of new employees.

- Drafting audience-relevant internal communications.
- Participating in community relationship building meetings and events.
- Planning and project managing events.

- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Excellent administrative skills.
- Design skills using Adobe InDesign.

- Proofing materials pre-print or pre-publication.
