The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) invites graduates to apply for an Internship Programme for a period of 15 months.

Position: SAMRC Interns (R764A)
Location: Cape Town Office, Western Cape
Duration: 15 Month Contract

A stipend will be granted per month

The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) strives to improve the nation’s health and quality of life by funding and conducting relevant and leading health research. It further aims to promote equity, career development and progression.

The SAMRC is extending an invitation to graduates to apply and participate in an internship program at the Biomedical Research and Innovation Platform.

The unit is in need of six (6) interns who are suitably qualified and experienced in end-to-end biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

The interns will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to various projects, including the training of students.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Facilitation of training protocols
  • Teaching support
  • Technical support in laboratories
  • Research report writing
  • Organization and management of data

Core Requirements:

  • BSc or Honours degree in microbiology or biochemistry (or related degree)
  • Understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Experienced in laboratory techniques including tissue culture, PCR, and western blots
  • Hands-on experience with fermentation culture and up- and down-stream processing
  • Some short-term experience in a related industry

Advantageous:

  • Certification in biopharmaceutical manufacturing
