Potatoes South Africa (PSA) invites all South African students who are passionate about agriculture to apply for its 2026 bursary programme. This funding opportunity is aimed at supporting deserving students pursuing qualifications relevant to the potato industry, with a strong emphasis on academic excellence, industry relevance, and transformation within the agricultural sector.

2026 BURSARY POTATOES SOUTH AFRICA (PSA) OPPORTUNITY

FIELD OF STUDY

Undergraduate (2nd year and above):

  • Agricultural Economics,
  • Agronomy,
  • Plant/Crop Production,
  • Soil Science,
  • and other agriculture-related fields relevant to the potato industry.

Postgraduate (Honours, Master’s, PhD):

  • Only candidates whose research topic is potato-focused will be considered.

BURSARY BENEFITS

  • Tuition support for the 2026 academic year
  • Access to industry internships and workplace exposure
  • Post-graduation obligation: bursars must work within the South African potato industry for a period equal to their bursary duration

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be registered or planning to register full-time at an accredited South African tertiary institution
  • Must study in a relevant agriculture-related field
  • Must have demonstrated strong academic performance
  • Postgraduates: must submit a research proposal or proof of registration for 2026

  • Latest academic transcript (on institution letterhead)
  • Admission or registration confirmation for 2026
  • Proof of household income: payslips, affidavit, or SASSA documentation
  • For Master’s/PhD applicants: progress report and/or supervisor recommendation letter
  • Any other relevant supporting documentation
