Office of the Premier: Internship Programme 2026/2027

The Office of the Premier in Mpumalanga Province invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for the 2026/2027 Graduate Internship Programme. The programme offers an opportunity to gain practical work experience in the public service. Successful applicants will be placed at the Office of the Premier in Mbombela for a fixed period of 24 months.

This internship programme provides graduates with an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a professional working environment while developing practical skills that improve future employment prospects. Graduates will work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to government administration, planning, research, communication, human resource management, public policy, records management, monitoring and evaluation, and other specialised fields.

A monthly stipend will be paid in accordance with the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) Determination of Interns in the Public Service.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements before submitting an application:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years of age.
  • Must be unemployed.
  • Must have never participated in a Government Internship Programme.
  • Must possess the required National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree relevant to the advertised post.
  • Applicants who have completed their theoretical studies and are awaiting practical training may apply.
  • Certified copies of qualifications and a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) must accompany the application.

Skills and Competencies

Successful interns should demonstrate a willingness to learn, strong communication skills, good interpersonal abilities, professionalism, attention to detail, computer literacy, problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team. Depending on the placement, analytical thinking, research skills, report writing and organisational skills may also be required.
