NID Training NPC: Learnership Opportunities 2026

NID Training NPC is inviting unemployed young people with disabilities to apply for accredited learnership opportunities funded by the National Skills Fund (NSF). These 12-month learnership programmes are designed to provide practical workplace experience together with nationally recognised qualifications that can improve employability and open pathways to long-term careers.

Applications are currently open for several National Certificate programmes in the Western Cape, with opportunities available in Cape Town and Worcester. Eligible applicants who meet the minimum requirements are encouraged to submit their applications before the closing date.

The available learnership positions are:

  • National Certificate: Professional Cookery (NQF Level 4) – Khayelitsha, Cape Town
  • National Certificate: Professional Cookery (NQF Level 4) – Observatory, Cape Town
  • National Certificate: Professional Cookery (NQF Level 4) – Parow, Cape Town
  • National Certificate: Plant Production (NQF Level 3) – Worcester, Western Cape
  • National Certificate: Plant Production (NQF Level 3) – Khayelitsha, Cape Town
  • National Certificate: Furniture Making: Wood (Upholstery) (NQF Level 2) – Worcester, Western Cape
  • National Certificate: Furniture Making: Wood (Upholstery) (NQF Level 2) – Parow, Cape Town

The learnerships are aimed at unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 28 years who have completed Grade 10, Grade 11, or Grade 12 and are living in the specified areas. Applicants must also provide proof of disability confirmed by a registered medical practitioner.

About the Learnership Programme

The National Skills Fund continues to support skills development initiatives that empower unemployed South Africans by providing accredited training opportunities. The Professional Cookery qualification prepares learners for careers within the hospitality and food preparation industry. Training includes food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, hygiene practices, customer service, and workplace safety while developing practical culinary skills required in commercial kitchens.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum requirements before applying:
