Designed by retailers, the Professional Retail Programme (PRP) builds merchants of the future. An eight-month graduate internship, it equips graduates for specialised entry-level roles in the retail world.  Graduates learn the key roles and responsibilities of the retail value chain; and how these add value to business and consumers. The internship is delivered through a cloud-based learning platform and a combination of classroom, self-study and group project work, along with four months of hands-on work experience in selected retail environments.

Basic Requirements

  • South African
  • Aged 18-33 years
  • Unemployed
  • No criminal record
  • Diploma or degree, or a final year student, in any of the following: B.Com, Operations Management, Management or Business Management, Business Science, Retail Management, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Clothing Management or other retail related qualifications.

The Professional Retail Programme is based in Durban only and is a eight-month graduate internship designed to build merchants of the future. Graduates are prepared for junior retail positions in buying, planning and store management. They understand the retail value chain key roles and responsibilities; and how these add value to business and consumers.

The internship is delivered through a cloud-based learning platform and a combination of classroom, self-study, and group project work, along with five months of hands-on work experience in select retail environments. The programme won’t guarantee you a job but if successful, you gain credible work readiness experience that retail employers are looking for spaces are limited.
