Rate: R350 per day (3-year fixed contract)

Backgroun: The Moses Kotane Research Institute (MKRI) aims to stimulate a sustainable provincial economy through research, development, and innovation. MKRI is recruiting 600 unemployed graduates (aged 18–35, South African citizens) from KwaZulu-Natal to collect data for research purposes across various district municipalities. Preference will be given to KZN residents.
Requirements
- Qualifications: NQF Level 6–8 in any field.
- Essential:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Computer literacy.
- Own working smartphone.
- Proficiency in English and IsiZulu.
Advantageous:
- NQF Level 8 qualification.
- Ability to drive independently.
- Previous experience in data collection and use of data collection tools.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Strong communication skills for engaging respondents and explaining survey questions.
- Attention to detail for accurate data recording and capturing.
- Time management to meet deadlines and manage tasks efficiently.
- Ethical conduct, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to research protocols.
- Teamwork to collaborate with other data collectors and supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field data collection in assigned district municipalities.
- Administer surveys and questionnaires using structured tools for consistent responses.
- Accurately record and capture data in paper-based or digital formats.
- Verify and cross-check data for completeness and accuracy.
- Adhere to ethical standards, including maintaining confidentiality and obtaining informed consent.
- Follow project guidelines, timelines, and instructions from the research team.
- Provide regular progress updates to supervisors.
- Represent MKRI professionally when interacting with community members and stakeholders.
