Marketing Administrator Internship at Artscape (EPWP Programme)

Artscape invites unemployed graduates and suitably qualified individuals to apply for the EPWP Internship Programme for the position of Marketing Administrator. The internship is offered through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) implemented by the agency for the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS). This 12-month internship will provide practical experience in digital marketing, advertising, social media management, and digital content production within the theatre and performing arts environment. Successful candidates will assist with social media management, content creation, graphic design, digital exhibitions, and marketing activities related to productions and events.
Applicants must have a Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, or Social Media Management, along with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools. The programme is open to South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 who reside in the Western Cape. Candidates should demonstrate creativity, good communication skills, teamwork ability, and a strong interest in theatre and performing arts. Successful applicants will receive a stipend of R243 per day for graduates or R162 per day for Grade 12 candidates. About the Internship

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with managing social media platforms and online applications
- Support social media campaigns for projects, events, and community engagement
- Create digital content to increase audience interaction
- Compile social media posts and written content
- Take photographs during production opening nights and events
- Re-design graphics and images for digital use
- Create showreel videos from existing production footage
- Develop digital marketing material for upcoming productions
- Build digital exhibitions from archive material
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, or Social Media Management
- Statement of Results must be attached
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (Statement of Results required)
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or similar software
- Skills in video editing, GIF creation, and sound insertion will be an advantage
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work overtime when required
- Good problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in a team and under supervision
- Must reside in the Western Cape (proof of address required)
- Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old
Other Skills and Competencies
- Strong interest in theatre and technical operations
- Ability to speak at least two of the Western Cape’s main languages (English, Afrikaans, or IsiXhosa)
- South African citizenship required
- No criminal record or pending cases
- Previous experience in performing arts will be an advantage
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong written communication skills in English
- Creative thinking and problem-solving ability
- Good interpersonal skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Connection with social media influencers will be an advantage
