uMngeni-uThukela Water invites applications from suitably qualified unemployed youth under the age of 35 who are South African citizens residing in KwaZulu-Natal to participate in a 36-month Graduate Training Programme. The opportunity is designed to provide practical workplace experience and exposure within a professional environment, supporting academic qualifications with hands-on learning.
Position: Graduate Trainee (Chemistry)
Duration: 36 months (3 years)
Location: Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal
Closing Date: 02 December 2025
Preference will be given to applicants who are permanent residents of local municipalities within UUW operational areas. This prioritisation aims to support community development and ensure that young people from these regions gain meaningful access to skills advancement and employment pathways.
GRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMME
2026 – 2029
uMngeni-uThukela Water offers a thirty six (36) months training programmes under the below mentioned fields. Applicants are invited who are currently residing in KwaZulu-Natal province so as to gain practical work experience in the following operations in the organisation.
Graduate Training Programme will be offered in the following fields:

REQUIREMENTS
- An appropriate qualification from Council of Higher Education (CHE) accredited tertiary institution.
- Applicants must be South African citizens residing in KwaZulu-Natal. First preference will be given to applicants who are permanent residents of the identified local municipalities within UUWO operational areas.
- The programme is strictly targeting unemployed youth (under 35 years).
Applicants who have participated in another Internship / Graduate Training Programme before will not be considered in this programme.
INSTRUCTIONS
The programme will run for a period of Three (3) years.
Detailed CV, certified copies of qualifications & academic record, affidavit of being unemployed and ID copy and proof of residence must be submitted with your application.
