Khumani Mine invites highly skilled, motivated and dedicated individuals who would like to be part of this exciting mine and whowould like to make use of this unique opportunity to grow and develop within the company to apply for the position at our operation which is situated approximately 29 km from Kathu next to the N14 in the Southern Kalahari.
PURPOSE OF INTERN ROLE
To support the different departments in the development of skills and to create a talent pipeline thereby assisting the business to build critical skills and nurture future talent and expose interns to work knowledge and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social work, Communications, Sociology or Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, PRINCE2 Certification
- Intermediate in Mine Environmental Control with Degree in Environmental Health / Occupational Hygiene or related qualification or SAIOH Technologist Certification with Degree in Environmental Health / Occupational Hygiene or related qualification
- Practical in Mine Environmental Control with Degree in Environmental Health / Occupational Hygiene or related qualification or SAIOH Hygiene Assistant qualification with Degree in Environmental Health / Occupational Hygiene or related qualification
- Degree /Diploma in BSC Chemistry, B Tech / Analytical Chemistry or Diploma Analytical Chemistry
- Degree / Diploma in Financial Accounting / Management Accounting / Financial Management
- Diploma in Administration
- Diploma / Degree in Human Resource Management
- National Diploma in Safety / B Tech Safety Management
- Diploma / Degree in Environmental Management or Environmental
- Diploma / Degree in Logistics / Supply Chain
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Computer literacy
- Basic user of MS Office Suite
- Communication Skills – good written and verbal
- Interpersonal Skills
- Driver’s licence preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Preference will be given to candidates from the following areas: Gamagara and John Taolo Gaetsewe municipal areas in the Northern Cape.
As per the company’s Employment Equity plan and demographic profile the target group for the programme is historically disadvantaged students with financial constraints.
The following documents will be required:
- Student must be a South African citizen with a valid South African Identity document
- Proof of residence, ie Municipal Account
- An updated CV together with all academic records or University statement and Grade 12 Certificate

TERMS & CONDITIONS
The candidate will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
Remuneration will be based on a monthly stipend.
The candidate will be appointed based on the duration of the contractual agreement.
It must be clearly noted that Assmang Pty Ltd will be under no obligation whatsoever to employ the candidate on a fulltime basis after the contract has ended.
Successful candidates will be responsible for their own accommodation and transportation to and from their place of work.
