Internship and WIL Placement – Breede Valley Municipality

The Breede Valley Municipality is offering an 18-month work experience placement for students and unemployed individuals living within the municipal area, aimed at providing practical exposure and skill development in various professional fields. This programme supports those with TVET N6 qualifications needing practical experience to complete their National Diploma, as well as graduates with relevant NQF level 6 or higher qualifications seeking valuable municipal work experience. Applicants will be placed across different departments depending on available opportunities, with stipends provided to assist participants during the placement period.

Stipend:

  • TVET N6 Education Qualification: R 4000.00
  • Graduate Internship Programme: R 6000.00

Duration: 18 months

Programme and Entry Requirements

This 18-month work experience placement programme at Breede Valley Municipality selects applicants based on the following criteria:

1. Criteria for TVET N6 Qualification Holders

Persons with a TVET N6 qualification requiring 18 months of work experience to obtain a National Diploma must provide a letter from their TVET college confirming eligibility for the 18-month practical placement. The available programmes are:

  • WIL – Human Resources Management (Ref: HRM09/WINTERN01)
  • WIL – Public Management/Administration & Management Assistant (Ref: PM09/WINTERN02)
  • WIL – Economics, Accounting or Finance, Internal Auditing or Risk Management (Ref: EAI09/WINTERN03)
  • WIL – Project Management (Ref: PM09/WINTERN04)
  • WIL – Engineering/Architecture/Building/Electrical/Civil Construction/Construction Management/Mechanical/Quantity Surveying (Ref: ENG09/WINTERN05)
  • WIL – Town and Regional Planning (Ref: TRP09/WINTERN06)
  • WIL – Building Control (Ref: BC09/WINTERN07)
  • WIL – ICT (Ref: ICT09/WINTERN08)
  • WIL – Media and Communications (Ref: MC09/WINTERN17)
2. Criteria for Graduates with NQF Level 6 and Above

Persons who have graduated with an NQF Level 6 or higher qualification applicable to the municipal environment and seeking work experience in the following disciplines:

  • Human Resources Management (Ref: HRM09/GINTERN09)
  • Public Management/Administration & Management Assistant (Ref: PM09/GINTERN10)
  • Project Management (Ref: PM09/GINTERN11)
  • Engineering – Architecture/Building/Electrical/Civil Construction/Construction Management/Mechanical/Quantity Surveying (Ref: ENG09/GINTERN12)
  • Town and Regional Planning (Ref: TRP09/GINTERN13)
  • Building Control (Ref: BC09/GINTERN14)
  • ICT (Ref: ICT09/GINTERN15)
  • Environmental Studies (Ref: ES09/GINTERN16)
  • Media and Communications (Ref: MC09/GINTERN18)

Subject to available workplaces, Breede Valley Municipality will endeavor to place successful applicants across the municipal area. Due to limited space and budget constraints, not all qualifications can be accommodated, but efforts will be made to assist within the allocated municipal budget for Work Integrated Learning.

Scope of Work and Duties
  • Determined by the applicant’s qualification or Work Integrated Learning log sheet, or
  • Determined by the department in which the applicant is placed.
Stipends
  • TVET N6 Education Qualification: R 4000.00
  • Graduate Internship Programme: R 6000.00
