Position: Chemical Laboratory Part-Time Intern
Location: Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal
We are seeking an energetic, dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Chemical Laboratory Intern.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in testing, recording, interpreting, and presenting results/data relating to quality of manufactured products and raw materials, and then communicating the results as required.
- Assist in evaluating quality control of finished product issuing COA to customers.
- Ensuring that all lab instruments are maintained and calibrated.
- Ensuring that products are tested as per batch card specification and passed timeously.
- Assist in development of new products, by running trial batches in the lab and in the factory.
- Ensuring personal safety and good housekeeping.
- Maintenance of Good Laboratory Practice and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Assist in data capture and filing.
Qualifications:
Currently studying towards a diploma, degree, or certificate in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry and familiar with laboratory environments, procedures, and practices.
Skills and Requirements:
- Prospective applicants required to reside within Pietermaritzburg area.
- Basic understanding of chemistry principles, including titration, pH measurement, density test and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, proficient in English.
- Ability to conduct research and develop new formulations and processes.
- Capability to improve existing products and processes to enhance performance, reduce costs, and increase sustainability.
- Understanding of safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Firm grasp of percentages, fractions, parts, and dilutions.
