Graduate Internships Available: Stellenbosch Municipality

The Stellenbosch Municipality invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for three (3) Graduate Intern positions on a one-year contract within the Directorate: Planning & Economic Development, Department: Integrated Human Settlements. The successful incumbents will report to the relevant Human Settlement Managers and will support functions related to Integrated Human Settlements, including Housing Development, Informal Settlements, Housing Administration, and assistance with processes to effect title deed transfers. The positions are based in Stellenbosch, and preference may be given to applicants residing in or near the Stellenbosch Municipal area.

- Duration: One-year contract (12 months)
- Stipend:
- Bachelor’s Degree – R6 500 per month
- Honours Degree – R8 000 per month
- Master’s Degree – R9 000 per month

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma at NQF Level 7 in Development Planning, Town Planning, Engineering, Human Settlements, Construction Management, Project Management, Development Studies, or a related field. Academic training in at least two of the following areas is required: Spatial Planning, Land Use Management, Development Facilitation, Development Information (GIS), Integrated Human Settlements, and Project Management. Strong computer literacy (MS Office and GIS), communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and excellent written and verbal skills in at least two of the three Western Cape official languages (English, Afrikaans, and Xhosa) are essential. Monthly remuneration ranges from R6 500 to R9 000, depending on qualification level, and the closing date for applications is 17 January 2026.

X3 GRADUATE INTERN (ONE YEAR CONTRACT APPOINTMENT)
The successful incumbent/s will report to the relevant Human Settlement Manager/s within the Directorate: Planning & Economic Development.
Minimum requirements:
● A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma (Development Planning / Town Planning / Engineering / Human Settlements / Construction Management / Project Management / Development Studies / or any degree relevant to the functional areas of Development Planning, Development Management, and Integrated Human Settlements). The degree or diploma must be at NQF level 7.
Other Requirements:
● Academic training in at least two (2) of the following sectors: Spatial Planning, Land Use Management, Development Facilitation, Development Information (GIS), Integrated Human Settlements, and Project Management
● Computer Literacy (MS Office, GIS)
● Communications skills (including the ability to draft documents)
● Ability to give attention to detail
● High level of responsibility
● Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
● Excellent oral and written (specifically report writing skills) skills in at least two of the three Western Cape official languages (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa).
Duties:
● Assist the Human Settlement Manager/s with performing duties related to the relevant functional area (Integrated Human Settlements (Housing Development, Informal Settlements and Housing Administration) to effect title deeds transfers.
