Gert Sibande District Municipality: Graduate Programme (ISDG)

The Gert Sibande District Municipality is calling on unemployed youth graduates aged 18 to 35 to apply for the Infrastructure Skills Development (ISDG) Graduate Programme, which will last for 36 months starting in 2025. Applicants must be South African citizens.

The Gert Sibande District Municipality, jointly with National Treasury, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified unemployed graduates to participate in a 3-year fixed term contract programme and mentor in the following disciplines:
- GRADUATES
Numbers: 3
Discipline: Land Surveying
Minimum Qualification: ND in Land Surveying or in Geomatics and or BTech in Land Surveying or in Geomatics and or BSc in Land surveying or Geomatics
Numbers: 2
Discipline: Geographic Information System (GIS)
Minimum Qualification: BSc in Geomatics and or BSc Geo-Informatics and or BSc (Hons) Geo-informatics
Numbers: Town Planning
Discipline: 3
Minimum Qualification: BSc in Town and Regional Planning and or in Urban and regional Planning and or Honours in Town and Regional Planning and in Urban and Regional Planning
Numbers: 3
Discipline: Civil Engineering
Minimum Qualification: ND and or BEng and or BSc and or BTech in Civil Engineering
Numbers: 2
Discipline: Environmental Science Practitioner
Minimum Qualification: B degree in Environmental Management/ Environmental Sciences
Numbers: 4
Discipline: Natural Sciences
Minimum Qualification: BTech/BSc/BSc (Honours) in Natural Sciences with Chemistry/Microbiology Science/ Environmental Science/Geo-Hydrology
In making the final selection, preference will be given to applicants meeting the following important criteria:
- Suitable qualified and unemployed
- A valid Code 08 driver’s license will be an added advantage
- Appointment will be made in the context of Employment Equity
- Must be a South African citizen in possession of the valid SA ID
- Must be under the age of 35
- Academic context must be realist match to the academic requirements for professional registration with respective statutory Council.
GIS candidates are requested to attach their academic records together with their qualifications.
- MENTOR: ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Remuneration shall be at R1600.00 hourly at 12 hours per graduate on a monthly basis.
Requirements:
- An accredited B. Degree qualification in Environmental Management/ Environmental Science field of study
- Registration as Professional in the South African Council for Natural Scientists Professions (SACNASP)
- Al least five years’ working experience
- Ability to train and mentor Environmental Science Practitioners graduates
- Computer Literacy
