INTERN REQUIRED (2026/27, PRETORIA)

Fruit SA is looking for a highly motivated, multi-faceted intern (under 30) to join its Head Office in Pretoria. This role offers hands-on exposure to the fruit industry, stakeholder engagement, research, and executive-level support in a fast-paced and professional environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in:

  • Agricultural Economics, or
  • A related field aligned to the fruit industry value chain.
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide general administrative and management support to the Industry Affairs Manager, Market Access Liaison Manager, and the CEO.
  • Stand in for the Executive Office Administrator when required.
  • Conduct research and analysis on local and international fruit industry trends.
  • Compile, update, and manage the Fruit SA Industry Statistics Booklet and database.
  • Assist with Citrus Industry Trust administration, including meeting coordination, minute-taking, stakeholder communication, and record-keeping.
  • Represent Fruit SA at industry events, conferences, and engagements, and compile post-event reports.
  • Support effective stakeholder engagement with industry bodies, service providers, and other partners.
  • Contribute content to internal documents.
Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Sound understanding of:
    • The South African agricultural and fruit industry value chain
    • Local and international agricultural markets
  • Keen interest in the regulatory, technical, and phytosanitary aspects of the fruit trade
  • Strong technical, digital, and data fluency
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and public-speaking skills
  • Good report writing and numerical skills
  • Strong organisation, planning, and time management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
