Firefighter Internship Programme – Govan Mbeki Municipality

Govan Mbeki Municipality invites unemployed, trained firefighters to apply for participation in a 12-month Firefighter Internship Programme. The programme is designed to provide practical workplace experience while strengthening firefighting and emergency response capacity within the municipal jurisdiction. Participants will gain valuable exposure that supports both professional development and improved service delivery to local communities.
The initiative forms part of the Municipality’s commitment to skills development and youth empowerment in line with operational and community needs. Through this programme, a sustainable pool of skilled local firefighters will be developed, contributing to safer communities and enhanced emergency preparedness within the Govan Mbeki Municipal area.

Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12
- Age between 20 and 35 years
- Fire Fighter I
- Fire Fighter II
- Hazmat Awareness
- Hazmat Operations (added advantage)
- First Aid Level 3
- Valid Code C driver’s licence (EC will be an added advantage)
- Physically and mentally fit
- Completed official municipal application form

Interested applicants meeting the requirements must submit a fully completed official application form, available at the Secunda Main Offices, all Regional Offices, and on the municipal website: www.govanmbeki.gov.za, together with a detailed CV and certified copies of qualifications and identity document. Applications submitted without the completed official application form will not be considered.
Applicants with foreign qualifications must attach a SAQA verification document. Shortlisted candidates will be required to present original qualifications during interviews; failure to do so will result in disqualification.
