Job Description

Position: Finance Intern

Duration: 12-month contract

Salary: R14 600 – R16 800 per month

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape

Closing date: 25 June 2025

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented intern who is eager to gain hands-on experience in the world of bookkeeping and finance. You don’t need to have a formal finance or accounting qualification — if you have a strong interest in numbers, a keen eye for detail, and are comfortable working with financial systems and platforms, we want to hear from you. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, a quick learner, and ready to take on real responsibility in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Ideal candidate would be based in Cape Town.​

What will you do:

You will support our finance team with day-to-day bookkeeping functions, ensuring that financial data is accurately captured, processed, and managed. You’ll get practical exposure to systems and platforms used in financial operations and have a direct hand in maintaining the financial health of our organisation. Tasks include:

  • Processing invoices from suppliers
  • Managing payment allocation through relevant platforms 
  • Handling management and recovery fees
  • Addressing queries and discrepancies
  • Managing and verifying credit card information
  • Setting up payments on Standard Bank and FNB platforms
  • Ensuring all transactions are correctly captured and uploaded before payments are made
  • (Once familiar) Assisting with bank reconciliations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage invoices for the company
  • Verify and reconcile invoices to ensure data accuracy
  • Communicate with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate records of payments and invoices
  • Assist with month-end closing and reporting
  • Provide general support to the finance team

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification (Degree) in any field — fields such as Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Information Systems are advantageous
  • At least 6 months working experience in a similar role
  • Interest or experience in bookkeeping, finance, or administration
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Comfortable using digital tools and platforms
  • Experience working on Xero highly advantageous
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn
