EPWP Environmental Internship Opportunities – City of Mbombela

The City of Mbombela, in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, invites young unemployed and underemployed South African citizens to apply for the EPWP Environmental Internship Programme. The programme is aimed at empowering youth by providing practical work experience, skills development, and employment opportunities within the environmental and biodiversity sector, while contributing to environmental management across the municipality.
The internship targets matriculants and graduates between the ages of 18 and 35 who are classified as not in education, employment or training (NEET). Successful applicants will be placed within the four regions of the City of Mbombela Municipality and will receive a daily stipend in line with EPWP guidelines. Suitably qualified women and persons with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply before the closing date of 22 January 2026 at 16h00.

The City of Mbombela in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is implementing a Youth Empowerment and Development Programme under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). The project aims to create jobs and promote Environmental Management.
This programme addresses youth unemployment by providing employment opportunities and skills development to graduates and matriculants classified as Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
In light of the above, the City of Mbombela is pleased to announce a call for applications on this programme as follows:
Field: Grade 12 (51 Unemployed)
Daily Stipend: R165.00
Location: Within the four regions of the Municipality

Field: Diploma / Degree in Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Development Studies or any other Environmental-related qualification (51 Unemployed)
Daily Stipend: R271.04
