Closing Date
The closing date for applications is 17 August 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.
Important Information
Applications must be submitted using the New Z83 Application Form, effective from 1 January 2021. The e-Recruitment System automatically generates the Z83 form once the Apply option is selected. Applicants are required to submit a fully completed Z83 form together with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). Copies of qualifications and other supporting documents are not required when submitting an application.
The Z83 form generated through the e-Recruitment System cannot currently be signed electronically. Applicants who submit an unsigned Z83 through the system will not be disqualified and will instead be requested to sign the form on or before the interview date. Applicants can view the positions they have applied for under “My Job Applications.” Although the generated Z83 does not display work experience or qualifications, all information captured in the system is available to the recruitment team.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and all other relevant supporting documents, including a copy of a Permanent Resident Permit where applicable, on or before the interview date. Failure to submit the required documents will result in disqualification. Correspondence will only be sent to shortlisted candidates. Applicants who have not been contacted within six (6) months after the closing date should regard their applications as unsuccessful.
Successful candidates will undergo personnel suitability checks, including criminal record checks, citizenship verification, financial and asset record checks, qualification verification, study verification, and previous employment verification. All shortlisted candidates, including Senior Management Service (SMS) applicants, will be required to complete two pre-entry assessments. One assessment will be a practical exercise to evaluate the candidate’s technical and generic competencies, while the other will assess integrity and ethical conduct.
The Selection Panel may recommend candidates to undergo a Generic Managerial Competency Assessment in accordance with the DPSA Directive on Competency-Based Assessments. Successful candidates may also be subjected to security clearance procedures and, where applicable, skills or knowledge assessments. The competency assessment will evaluate generic managerial competencies using the prescribed DPSA SMS competency assessment tools.
Successful candidates will be appointed on a probation period of 12 or 24 months, where applicable.
Appointments will be made in accordance with the Department’s Employment Equity Plan to promote equitable representation across race and gender. Applications are welcome from all racial groups. Women and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply and should indicate this in their applications where applicable.
The Department reserves the right to amend, review, or withdraw any advertised post if it is in the best interest of the Department. Any misrepresentation in an application will result in automatic disqualification and may lead to disciplinary action if the applicant has already been appointed.
Applicants applying for Senior Management Service (SMS) posts must submit a valid Nyukela (SMS Pre-entry Programme) Certificate before appointment. All shortlisted SMS candidates will participate in technical exercises and interviews. Following these assessments, a maximum of three candidates may be invited to undergo psychometric assessments to evaluate cognitive abilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity. Full details of the Nyukela Programme are available at https://www.thensg.gov.za/training-course/sms-pre-entry-programme.
Due to austerity measures, the Department will not cover any costs related to transport, accommodation, or meals for candidates attending pre-selection assessments or interviews.
