The Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture is excited to announce that they are seeking 120 unemployed graduates for their Entrepreneurial Internship Programme, which will last for 24 months, starting in 2025 and concluding in 2027.

The Programme is meant to provide work and entrepreneurial exposure to 120 unemployed Agricultural graduates in their fields of studies. Successful applicants will be appointed as Interns for 24 months and will undergo on-the-job development training in technical, professional, business and life skills relevant and crucial for them to start their own enterprises.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • National Diploma (ND) in Agriculture (NQF level 6) as recognized by SAQA.
  • Applicants should be between the ages of 18-35 years.
  • Unemployed graduates residing in the Eastern Cape.
  • Women and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES:

  • Perform farm-work duties in relation to the commodity requirements to improve productivity at the commercial farm.
  • This entails, but not limited to, livestock production, crop production, aquaculture, agro-processing and veterinary medicine/ pharmaceutical.
  • Attend training relevant to farm commodities in effective and efficient production techniques, management skills and business management skills.
  • Learn business growth skills and acquire resource management skills and knowledge.
  • Attend and arrange meetings with strategic partners and other stakeholders such as commodity groups/organizations/ agents, market institutions, suppliers of production inputs/infrastructure and farmers.
  • Perform overtime duties when required. Write monthly and quarterly reports and participate in research and evaluation studies.

Note:

  • Candidates must be entering the Internship Program in Government for the first time.
  • All successful applicants will be mentored and guided by the Commercial Farmer.
  • Be ready to be deployed to any section within the farm to gain more knowledge.
  • Private studying during the 24 months Graduate Internship Program will not be allowed.
