The DIPLOMICS training lab, based at the Centre for Proteomic and Genomics Research in Woodstock, Cape Town and a key partner in the 1KSA project, will be hosting an internship in 2025.
This opportunity is designed to deepen one’s knowledge in the biodiversity genomics field through hands-on experience and exposure to the 1KSA project. This is a full-time, skill-building one-year internship based in Cape Town.

Eligibility Requirements:
- This opportunity is available to candidates with an MSc degree obtained in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany or a related field within the last two years.
- Candidates with a BSc Honours degree, and who have recently submitted their MSc degree copy for examination, will also be considered.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have basic molecular biology experience (eg DNA extraction, PCR optimisation) and demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in Biodiversity Genomics.
- Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, as defined by the DSTI.
