Position: Terrestrial Intern

Description

The Terrestrial Intern will assist in various field and office tasks related to terrestrial ecosystems.

This role provides hands-on experience and offers an opportunity to learn about biodiversity conservation, aquatic ecologist etc.

Requirements

  • Assist with field data collection and ecological surveys.
  • Participate in survey design, proposal scoping and costing, and business development and marketing activities.
  • Participate in habitat restoration projects and maintenance.
  • Support the analysis and interpretation of data collected during fieldwork.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Help maintain field equipment and supplies.
  • Working in close collaboration with specialists from other disciplines.

Skills

  • Good foundational knowledge of aquatic ecology
  • Basic understanding and practical experience with environmental legislation and National Water Act.
  • Great report writing skills and ability describe the issues and propose solutions.
  • Superior organisation skills, excellent communication skills, and good time management skills.
  • Willing to travel locally and internationally, including the rest of Africa.
  • Valid driver’s license

Qualifications 

  • BSc. degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in terrestrial ecosystems and conservation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with data analysis software is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
