The Department of Electricity and Energy invites South African unemployed graduates to apply for the Graduate Internship Programme for the financial years 2026/2027 – 2027/2028. This opportunity is aimed at providing practical workplace experience to qualifying applicants who hold relevant degrees or diplomas in fields such as engineering, finance, law, administration, supply chain management, social sciences, and related disciplines. Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.38 and will be based in Pretoria. Applicants must submit a completed 2021 Z83 application form and a comprehensive CV as one PDF document before the closing date of 06 February 2026. Successful candidates will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport to and from the workplace for the duration of the internship.
Applicants must submit:

The CV must indicate qualifications, experience (if any), and the duration thereof. The Z83 form is obtainable from www.dpsa.gov.za or www.gov.za/documents.
All fields in Sections A, B, C and D must be completed in full. Applicants may indicate “refer to CV” in Sections E, F and G where space is limited; however, the question under Part F relating to re-appointment conditions must be answered. The form must be initialled and signed.
Email applications must be submitted as one PDF document (Z83 and CV combined). JPEG or picture applications will not be accepted. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and supporting documents at the interview stage. Applications submitted late, via fax, or using an old Z83 form will not be considered.
Applicants who previously participated in a Government Internship Programme will not be considered. Students requiring experiential training must attach a formal letter from their tertiary institution.
Successful candidates will undergo personnel suitability checks, including criminal record, citizenship, financial/asset checks, qualification verification, and security clearance.
If applicants are not contacted within three (3) months after the closing date, they should accept that their application was unsuccessful. Receipt of applications will not be acknowledged, and correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only.
