Consulting for Sustainable Solutions offers climate and sustainable finance consulting and advisory services aimed at unlocking capital for sustainable development.
Whilst South Africa is our primary focus, we serve clients globally, supporting innovative, market-based solutions that unlock capital for emerging markets. Our clients include international DFIs, local commercial banks, and thinktanks.
Our areas of expertise include climate debt instruments like climate funds and green bonds, credit enhancement instruments like green guarantee facilities, and carbon financing for impact projects with viability gaps.
To expand our capabilities, we are looking for a Cape Town-based Intern to join the team.

Your role:
As an Intern, you will be involved in project delivery as integral member of a dynamic team, working in a fast-paced environment. Day-to-day activities will include developing problem statements, conducting research and analysis, and communicating results to key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed research and analysis – both qualitative and quantitative
- Collect, analyse, and interpret economic, impact and finance information to identify trends and insights
- Perform financial modelling with oversight and support from senior colleagues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects
- Assist in the development of strategic recommendations and action plans
- Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and documentation for client meetings
- Prepare presentations and participate in client meetings and presentations.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Qualifications: Academic degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science or similar; post-graduate degree preferred.
- Experience: Not required but would be advantageous.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyse complex data and develop actionable insights.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using data analysis and presentation tools.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings and recommendations.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Problem-Solving: Aptitude for identifying issues and developing strategic solutions.
- Excellence orientation: uncompromising focus on high quality work, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Resilience: Ability to perform well under pressure and deal maturely with constructive feedback
