STUDENT INTERNSHIP: CIRCULAR 030/2024

An internship programme is an intervention by the City of Johannesburg to address the growing demand by a tertiary institution for students to undergo on-the-job exposure, as a pre-requisite to acquire an academic qualification or as a requirement after the acquisition of academic qualification to obtain experiential training.

The City is committed to providing work-based training for students.

  • This internship opportunity is applicable to youth in the Johannesburg communities, who qualifies for this internship and have never participated in an internship programme before.
  • This Vacancy is open to all qualifying STUDENTS in the Johannesburg Community for a
    period not exceeding 18 months

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12/Matric plus Diploma / NQF level 6 in Business / Public or Municipal Administration.
  • Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.

Primary Function:
Provide an efficient Customer service by logging and resolving reported customer or citizen complaints/ queries while meeting or exceeding targets set by the Office of the Ombudsman and the City of Johannesburg. Ensure that all complaints meet the POPIA and Records management standards.

Key Learning Areas:

  • End to end intake process.
  • Interrogate complains adequately, expertly, and empathetically using all necessary resources available to resolve complaints at first contact.
  • Log all complaints queries onto the Case Management system according to Office of the Ombudsman set standards;
  • Take ownership of all complaints logged and manage the residents and / or customer’s expectations, according to the Office of the Ombudsman set standards;
  • Present all new complaints with clear recommendation to the assessment committee in the weekly assessment meeting.
