Booysendal Platinum Mine: Bursary Applications Now Open

Booysendal Platinum Mine invites suitably qualified and motivated individuals to apply for bursary opportunities available for 2025. Fields of study include Mining Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Finance, Metallurgical Engineering or Analytical Chemistry, and Geology. These bursaries are offered to support students who meet the academic requirements, with preference extended to applicants from the local community. The programme covers the full academic duration and is subject to annual renewal based on academic performance.
Applications must be submitted under reference number BDHR27/25. The bursary programme is based at Booysendal Platinum Mine, situated near Mashishing (Lydenburg), Roossenekal and Steelpoort on the border of the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. All applications must be received on or before 28 November 2025.

Booysendal Platinum is situated on the border of the Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces near the towns of Mashishing (Lydenburg), Roossenekal and Steelpoort. The mine is located on the southernmost exposure of the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex with eighty percent of its resources in the Mpumalanga Province. The Mine has a board and pillar mining layout and operates with trackless mechanised mining equipment. Booysendal is a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Northam Platinum Limited, a well-established, mid-tier independent and integrated platinum group metals producer with a strong tradition of innovation and technical expertise in the sector.

Role requirements
The successful candidate must have the following basic requirements:
- Technical roles: Grade 12 with 60% in Math & Physical Science, and 50% in Language
- Non-Technical roles: Grade 12 with 60% in Accounting, and 50% in Language
- Current Grade 12 learners: Grade 11 or Grade 12 mid-year with 60% in Maths & Physical Science/Accounting and 50% Language
- Registered students: Minimum 60% aggregate in major subjects
- Certified copies of all qualifications and academic results
- Proof of registration or Proof of acceptance
