Share Scheme Graduate Intern
Overview: Job Purpose and Deliverables
Core Purpose of the Role

The Graduate Internship is aimed at providing young talent with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience that will prepare them for gainful employment, while making a meaningful contribution to the organization. The role offers exposure to the Strategic Finance function, Share Scheme Department, and Treasury.

Key Deliverables and Outputs
Orientation & Integration
  • Become familiar with the corporate environment, office facilities, and departmental team structure.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities within Treasury and Share Scheme Administration.
Induction & Policy Awareness
  • Complete company induction and gain knowledge of organizational policies, strategic intent, and industry context.
Systems & Process Training
  • Acquire proficiency in Barloworld Business Systems (BBS), SAP ERP, HFM, IT2 Treasury Management System, and Shareforce.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use these systems for accounting, reporting, and share scheme administration.
Financial Operations
  • Prepare accurate monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support Treasury month-end processes, including journal preparation, cashbook transactions, and interest rate updates.
  • Assist with Treasury payments in compliance with Delegation of Authority and payment approval protocols.
Cash & Debt Management
  • Contribute to daily cash management and cash flow forecasting.
  • Gain an understanding of debt management, the DMTN programme, and JSE debt listing requirements.
Foreign Exchange & Dividend Payments
  • Develop basic knowledge of foreign exchange transactions and related Treasury policies.
  • Support the dividend declaration and payment process.
Share Scheme Administration
  • Learn all aspects of Barloworld Share Scheme administration, including award issuance, vesting, and compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with SARS eFiling and EasyFile requirements.
PAYE & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure monthly PAYE processing.
  • Assist with bi-annual IRP501 reconciliations.
  • Maintain compliance with SARS eFiling and EasyFile requirements.
Month-End & Reporting
  • Execute share scheme month-end reconciliations, weighted average share reporting, and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Recoup or refund funds for shares purchased or lapsed.
  • Process accelerated vesting due to terminations.
Employee Trust & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Update Shareforce employee data and communicate with employer companies regarding terminations.
  • Respond to queries, update databases, and report on query statistics.
