Aberdare: Polymer/Analytical Chemistry Trainees

Aberdare Cables invites interested and suitably qualified individuals to apply for the position of Polymer/Analytical Chemistry Experiential Trainee within the R&D Quality Department. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on laboratory and production exposure, including product testing, data collection, data interpretation, report writing, and participation in trial activities. The position is designed to support skill development while contributing to ongoing research, quality, and specification-driven work across the department.

This opportunity is open to candidates with Matric, S4 Polymer Technology or Analytical Chemistry, or a BTech in the related fields. In this role, you will get the opportunity to learn the following:

  • Perform electrical, mechanical, chemical and dimensional testing of final products.
  • Conduct experiments and gather data to support research and development projects.
  • Analyze and interpret data, and present findings to the team.
  • Running trials in production.
  • Write reports when required.
  • Understanding specifications.
  • Assist in providing statistical data to other departments where applicable.
  • Perform housekeeping after use of any laboratory equipment.

The minimum requirements for this position are as follows:

Qualifications

  • Matric
  • S4 Polymer Technology or Analytical Chemistry
  • BTech Degree in Polymer or Analytical Chemistry

Relevant Experience

  • Academic record – showing all completed modules
  • University letter confirming readiness to start WIL (P1/P2)

Other relevant skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
