Minimum Requirements

In accordance with the Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, 2013 (Act No. 37 of 2013), all new employees appointed to the South African Police Service must provide a buccal (inside cheek) sample for DNA profiling. The resulting forensic DNA profile will be recorded on the Elimination Index of the National Forensic DNA Database.
