Peace Officer & Traffic Warden Training Programme 2026

The Breede Valley Municipality invites unemployed youth to apply for the Peace Officer and Traffic Warden Training Programme under the Directorate: Community Services, Division: Law Enforcement. This initiative is presented in collaboration with the Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety to strengthen law enforcement capacity within the Breede Valley Municipal Area. The programme provides qualifying candidates with accredited training to prepare them for Peace Officer and Traffic Warden responsibilities.

The Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety will cover the full cost of training for the duration of the programme. Applicants must meet the prescribed minimum requirements, including a Grade 12 certificate, a valid Code B driver’s license, a clear criminal record, and residence within the Breede Valley Municipal Area. Candidates will be required to successfully complete various assessments, including written, physical, driving, and drug tests during the recruitment and training period.

POST DESIGNATION: PEACE OFFICER AND TRAFFIC WARDEN TRAINING

The Breede Valley Municipality, through its Directorate: Community Services – Law Enforcement Division, in collaboration with the Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety, hereby invites applications from unemployed youth to participate in the Peace Officer and Traffic Warden Training Programme.

This initiative aims to enhance Law Enforcement capacity within the Local Municipality by equipping qualifying candidates with the necessary skills and accredited training required to perform Peace Officer and Traffic Warden functions.

The Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety will cover the full cost of training for qualifying participants for the duration of the programme.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must attach certified copies of the following documentation:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate (Statements of results will not be accepted)
  • South African Identity Document
  • Valid Code B Driver’s License (minimum requirement)
  • Clear Criminal Record issued by SAPS or Proof of Application (A criminal record will result in automatic disqualification)
  • Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) (not required to be certified)
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following additional criteria:

  • Must be physically fit and medically healthy
  • Must be a South African citizen between the ages of 20 and 35 years
  • Must reside within the Breede Valley Municipal Area (Affidavit required as proof of residence)
  • Must be able to communicate in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape
  • Must pass the following assessments throughout the recruitment and training period:
    • Diagnostic written test
    • Physical fitness test
    • Random drug testing
    • Driving test
  • Must have own transport to and from the training facility

  1. A completed BVM EPWP Database Registration Form (only applicable if you are not already registered on the EPWP Database).
  2. A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. Certified copies (not older than six (6) months) of the following:
    • Qualifications
    • South African Identity Document
    • Driver’s License
    • Any other relevant documentation as specified under the minimum requirements

Applicants who are already registered on the BVM EPWP Database must submit:

  • A cover letter clearly indicating the position applied for, together with the required supporting documents.

Applicants must clearly state the position they are applying for on the EPWP Database Registration Form or in the cover letter.

DISQUALIFICATION

Applicants will be disqualified for the following:

  • Failure to submit required documentation
  • Submission of fraudulent documentation
  • Canvassing of Councillors and/or Municipal officials
  • Failure to adhere to the instructions outlined in this advertisement
