National Treasury: 2026–2028 Internship Programme

The National Treasury invites suitably qualified applicants to submit applications through its e-Recruitment System for consideration before the closing date. The National Treasury invites applicants to note that qualifications, criminal records, citizenship, and other regulatory checks will be conducted as prescribed. Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure they are evaluated by SAQA at their own cost. Successful candidates will be required to sign a Performance Agreement within three months of appointment, and those appointed for more than twelve months will serve a twelve-month probation period. Feedback will be accessible through the e-Recruitment system, and applications without a response within three months after the closing date should be regarded as unsuccessful.

Successful completion of the Nyukela Public Service SMS Pre-entry Programme as endorsed by the National School of Government, available as an online course on https://www.thensg.gov.za/training-course/sms-pre-entry-programme/, prior to finalisation of appointment, is a requirement for all SMS positions. For SMS positions, certain candidates may be required to undergo additional Psychometric Assessments.
All qualifications, criminal and SA citizenship checks will be conducted on all shortlisted candidates and, where applicable, additional checks will be conducted in line with the new DPSA Directive effective 01 April 2024. It is the applicant’s responsibility to have all their foreign qualifications (this includes O and A level certificates) evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), at their own expense. Upon appointment, successful candidates will be required to sign a Performance Agreement within 3 months from date of appointment, and for candidates whose appointment exceeds 12 calendar months, will be appointed on probation for a period of twelve (12) calendar months excluding leave taken as prescribed by Public Service Regulation 68.
