GreenCape: Graduate Trainee Programme 2026

GreenCape invites applications for the Graduate Trainee Programme, a 12-month opportunity for young professionals passionate about contributing to the green economy across sub-Saharan Africa. The programme develops emerging talent in sectors including Water, Sustainable Agriculture, Energy, Green Finance, Circular Economy and Communications. Candidates will support key projects, research, stakeholder engagement and sector development work aimed at unlocking green economic solutions. This opportunity is based in Cape Town, starting January 2026, with a competitive remuneration package and a medical aid contribution included.

Interested candidates must hold a relevant degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Environmental Sciences, Resource Management, Communications or related fields, with postgraduate studies being advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, computer literacy and an interest in the green economy are essential, while no prior work experience is required. Knowledge and Experience Required

  • No prior work experience is required
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated interest in a career in the Green Economy
  • Computer literacy – proficiency in MS Office and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail

Advantageous

  • Written content related to the green economy (e.g., thesis, university papers, blogs, articles)
  • Volunteer or extracurricular experience in your sector of interest
  • Previous stakeholder engagement or networking experience

Remuneration
Market-related basic salary + contribution towards medical aid
