Tharisa PLC: Vacation Work Programme 2025/2026

Tharisa PLC invites tertiary students to apply for the Vacation Work Programme taking place from December 2025 to January 2026. The programme offers participants an opportunity to gain practical work exposure and develop essential business and technical skills in their respective fields of study. It aims to enhance understanding of real-world operations while helping students acquire valuable experience that supports their academic learning and future careers.

The Vacation Work Programme is available in several disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Rock Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Health, Safety and Environment, BCom Accounting, and Transport & Logistics. Successful applicants will gain exposure to professional work environments across different Tharisa operations in Marikana, Rosslyn East, Brits, and Bryanston. This initiative provides students with a platform to build competencies that contribute to both personal and professional growth within the mining and business sectors.

Overview

Tharisa PLC aims to provide tertiary students with an opportunity to gain work exposure and practical experience by participating in their two-month vacation work programme (December 2025 – January 2026). The programme is a unique opportunity to gain business skills in various industries and gain exposure to fields of expertise as well as acquire critical business competencies.

Tharisa PLC is offering a Vacation Work Programme in the following disciplines:

  • Mechanical Engineering (VAC002-ME) – Based in Marikana, North-West
  • Electrical Engineering (VAC002-EE) – Based in Marikana, North-West
  • Rock Engineering (VAC002-RE) – Based in Marikana, North-West
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) (VAC002-HSE) – Based in Rosslyn East, Gauteng
  • 2 x Chemical Engineering (VAC002-CE) – Based in Brits, North-West
  • BCom Accounting (VAC002-ACC) – Based in Bryanston, Gauteng
  • Transport & Logistics (VAC002-TL) – Based in Bryanston, Gauteng
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled with an institution (University / University of Technology).
  • Studying towards any of the abovementioned courses.
  • No prior work experience in the field of study.
  • Excellent academic results.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Only South African citizens may apply.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from local community / labour sending areas.
  • Must be medically fit.
