The Department of Tourism is excited to invite unemployed youth from the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, and Western Cape to participate in the Tourism Monitors Programme for a duration of seven months. RECRUITMENT OF UNEMPLOYED YOUTH FOR THE TOURISM MONITORS PROGRAMME
  • Position: Tourism Monitors Programme
  • Contract Duration: 7 months contract
  • Daily stipend: R200
  • Location: Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, Western Cape

GENERAL SELECTION CRITERIA (applies to all provinces unless otherwise specified):
  • Unemployed South African citizens with a valid SA ID
  • Aged between 18–35
  • Have a matric certificate or equivalent
  • Added advantage to those with tertiary studies in tourism or environmental fields
  • Able to speak and read English
  • Live within 40–100 km of the site or national park
  • Have your own reliable transport (accommodation may be provided if far from the gate)
  • Willing to work flexible hours (weekends, public holidays, etc.)
  • Love tourism and want to grow in the sector
  • Previous TMP participants are not eligible to apply
  • If shortlisted, you may be required to complete a fitness assessment:
    • 2.4 km run
    • 25 push-ups
    • 25 sit-ups
      (to be done within a specific time frame)
